Colorful swings made of bamboo, jute figures of Radha-Krishna and peacocks in every hue recreate Jhulan Utsav at Tala Barowari Durgotsab. Artists were brought from Orissa to ensure authenticity in the decorations and Durga's ornaments.
It is believed that Lord Krishna and his consort Sri Radha and along with the gopis (cowherd girls) and gopas (cowherd boys) swing in the monsoon season in Vrindavan with music and dance. Hence, Jhulan Yatra (The Swing Festival) is celebrated in the monsoon season to commemorate the divine love of Radha and Krishna. "Jhulan is the festival of love and is still celebrated in Mayapur, Nadia, Vrindavan and Orissa. But our youngsters don't know the importance of this festival. We are trying to revive it," said T.N. Basu, a member of Tala Barowari Durgotsab.

Kumartuli Park Sarbojanin Durgotsav:

It is a cultural amalgamation of Gujarat and Bengal. Pabitra Basak, secretary of the club says that Durga Pujo 2012 would see harmonious integration of art and architecture of Bengal and Gujarat.
The Sculptures would reflect Bengal's style which is visually appealing. On the other hand Gujarat has its own school of sculptures and miniature paintings which are expressed with their bold outlines, pronounced curves and bright and bold colors.

Hatibagan Nabin Pally Durgotsav:

Their theme is Aadi Khadi (The Old Khadi). Their mandap is decorated with indigenous fabrics as well as charkhas, handmade papers, bobbins etc. The idol of Maa Durga has been made aggressive to suit the theme as it is inspired from freedom movement.

Nalin Sarkar Street Sarbojanin Durgotsav:

Nalin Sarkar Street Durga Pujo 2012 would present ''Relation''. The idea is to explore the relationship between ''Goti'' and ''Stithi'' where the former is signified by animal world and the latter by plant world. The two principal groups of living organisms are plants and animals and from the initial phase of evolution both the communities have lived together side by side in an intimate association to form the biotic environment or biosphere.
In a stable ecosystem the plants and animals form a delicate nutritional independence which with minor fluctuations is re-balanced fairly rapidly. The Sun provides energy to plant and animal world; it is the power generator of this universe and is the ultimate source of energy. In Nalin Sarkar Street Durga Puja 2012 Pandal, the Sun shall shine bright and it is positioned at the top of the beauteous crown adorning Ma Durga. If Sun is the primary source of energy for the universe then Maa Durga is the Protector of morality, savior of Mankind and universe.
The entire mandap and the Goddesses idols are made up of Ceramic Pottery.

Kashi Bose Lane Sarbojanin Durgotsav:

On the Platinum Jubilee, Kashi Bose Lane tried to increase human awareness on Conservation of Earth (Eso Sobai Sapath Kori, Ei Prithibir Jatno Nebo). They have made their pandal in shape of earth.

Pathuriaghata Paancher Pally:

In its 73rd year's puja, Pathuriaghata Paancher Pally has chosen the theme - 'Kaaler Jatrapath' (the thoroughfare of time). The theme-maker Somnath Mukhopadhyay is trying to represent a unique idol of goddess Durga. The idol would be a combination of traditional and modern look. If you would look at the idol from left, then you can see the traditional look of ma Durga with conventional Saraswati and Kartik, and if you would look from right side, then you will notice the modern look of ma Durga with modern Lakhsmi and Ganesh. And the real pleasure would be to see the little models of various vehicles - from bullock cart to metro rail. These models are being made by wastages of everyday items, like rubber of pressure cooker, broken buttons, crashed water bottles of aluminum etc.
